Hamburg, 11 March 2025 - Customs Support Group (CSG), Europe’s leading provider of customs and trade solutions, is strengthening its management team by appointing Thomas Regler as the new Managing Director for the German market. This is a clear sign of the company’s commitment to strengthening its brand and market position in Germany. Following a period of rapid acquisitions, Customs Support Germany is now focusing on organic growth.

Thomas Regler (41) is a recognized customs and industry expert, as well as an experienced manager with around 20 years of professional experience. Over the past seven years, he has held senior and management positions at DHL Express, most recently as Vice President Customs Germany. His previous years as an officer in the German Federal Armed Forces have given Thomas Regler valuable experience in leadership and project management, which is now helping him in his new position at Customs Support Germany.

Germany – one of the key markets

As Managing Director of Customs Support Germany GmbH, Thomas Regler will be responsible for strategic and operational business development in Germany, one of the Group’s most important markets. Customs Support Germany has been part of CSG since 2010 and was created through the integration of several renowned industry leaders. The company has grown strongly through strategic acquisitions such as CSD and iZD Group (2023), Porath and ZSK Customs (2022) and WZC Riemann (2021), some of which have been on the market for over 140 years. Today, with around 200 employees at ten locations and about 15,000 customers, it is one of the leading providers of customs and trade solutions in Germany. Customs Support Germany is headquartered in Hamburg.

“We are represented in all economically important regions of the country, including the hotspots at the Port of Hamburg and Frankfurt Airport,” says Thomas Regler. “In pThomas Reglre, Customs Support Germanyarticular, the combination of ‘Real Intelligence’, the enormous expertise of our team, and state-of-the-art digital solutions makes us a reliable partner that ensures smooth and compliant international processes. I look forward to further developing Customs Support in Germany as part of a strong European group of companies together with our dedicated team – with solutions that offer our customers real added value both nationally and internationally.”

John WegmaJohn Wegman, CEO Customs Support Groupn, CEO of Customs Support Group, emphasizes the importance of national integration and international orientation: “After a phase of rapid acquisitions, we now want to offer our customers our innovative customs and trade solutions under a uniform brand and further increase our market share in Europe. In doing so, we are also relying on the strength of our group of companies: with over 100 of our own offices in 14 European countries, we offer international companies solutions from a single provider, enabling centralised services and data consolidation. In Thomas Regler, we have found a strong leader who fully understands our strategy and will continue to drive it forward.”

Focus for the coming months

In the coming months, Customs Support Germany will continue to implement the Customs & Trade Solutions business more strongly in Germany and emphasise the strengths of the international Group. This will enable customers in Germany to increasingly benefit from the group’s advantages. In addition to access to highly developed IT systems, this includes centralised customs processing, which CSG achieves by consolidating and standardising data across different countries. Especially in today’s turbulent and dynamic regulatory environment, access to this comprehensive centralised data is crucial for companies to make informed decisions at short notice.

Customs has traditionally been a very paper-heavy industry, especially in Germany. Until now, customs brokers have spent much of their time transferring data from documents to the IT system. “We want to change this with AI-powered innovative technologies,” explains Thomas Regler. “Within the Group, we have already achieved amazing results with this in other countries, and we will also introduce intelligent document processing using AI in Germany.”

Customs processing – just the tip of the iceberg

Customs clearance is only a part of the service offering. With tailor-made customs management solutions for different industries and trade sectors, CSG ensures compliance, efficiency, and transparency in customs processes. “We guide our clients through the ever-changing customs landscape and are constantly evolving,” says Thomas Regler. “Our goal is to provide our business customers with world-class solutions, expand our market presence and continue to grow as a result.”
