Client Overview: A Global Leader in Repairs and Logistics

CTDI (Communication and Test Design Inc.) is a global powerhouse in electronics repair and logistics, with 20,000 employees across 100 facilities worldwide. Their Poland-based repair centre, employing 800 people, provides OEM-certified repair, parts management, and data erasure services for major international brands.

However, managing international supply chain flows presented key operational challenges, such as the implementation of Brexit. It was at this critical juncture that we stepped in to assist CTDI, helping them establish streamlined processes to ensure that the operations of their repair centre remained uninterrupted despite the UK's exit from the EU.

Often, customs is seen as a small step in supply chains – just a couple of declarations and a tax payment. However, there are many improvements to efficiency, finances, and logistical performance hidden inside this crucial function.

Inward processing refers to importing goods into the EU, processing these, and hereafter exporting these out of the EU. One common inward processing example is when a product is imported for repair or maintenance and is later exported to be returned to its owner.

Dutch Customs is implementing a new procedure. With this new procedure, it is no longer possible to make an import declaration before the goods have been unloaded. The new import procedure is called Container Vrijgave Bericht (CVB), which translates into Container Release Message.
